This is a cool little Indy set, and makes a good display piece. The trap wall mechanism is cool, but the 'hideout' for the crystal skull behind the conquistador should be closed off. Could also use some more scorpions. As for play value, the boy and I could only get so much out of it, since there's not much room for an encounter with the native guards. Much shorter than the scene in the movie. We combined our's with the hideout and trees in the Jungle Cutter set, as well as a green baseplate, for a little more real estate. Don't let that disuade you, overall, if you're collecting, this one's a must.

Pros - It's Indy. Scorpions. Cool trap wall and dead conquistador. More bad guys is always a good thing.

The torrent is one of lego's best sets ever! Now if your wondering, the cock pit can fit your clone pilot's(a very rare and cool minifig) sniper gun(behind the seat). The only thing I would be careful about is that this is a higher level set, I'v been doing legos for 6 years(I'm 11)and it was a friendly challenge. Includes some rare parts such as a super long axles that can come in handy for most projects. I think that a thing most people wonder when they see the box is were do you hold it, I think the best thing to do is hold the middle wing. For me the most frustrating thing is that sometimes the slide-out cock pit sometimes dosn't slide back in and you have to fiddle with it a little. The only other thing is that the flick-fire torpedoes are pretty much bombs. Over all, this is a nice set if you are a lego master pretty much.

Just an excellent lego model. Very sturdy and solid in it's construction (pieces don't easily come off). Well thought out. More lego models should be like this for playability.

Since the Power Miner sets and story started being featured in all of the lego club member catalogues and magazines, it hit the top of the must-have list for my 10-yr. old lego nut (knocking out, at least temporarily Star Wars, Transformers, and Indiana Jones). Although he used his allowance to purchase this one and the usually cheaper Stone Chopper (for some reason it currently costs more on Amazon), this is your best bet for a good under $10, starter Power Miner set.

- It has all the necessary ingredients for playing and imagination power: figurine, rock monster with crystal, accessory (mining pick) combined with a substantial versatiile mining vehicle.

- It combines with the Stone Chopper (using instructions found on the legos site) to make a larger piece. (Apparently, this is big deal with Lego nuts - and both can be found for less than $20). As a side note, other sets that can be combined to make larger more powerful pieces include: 1) LEGO Granite Grinder/Thunder Driller and 2) LEGO Claw Digger and Crystal Sweeper.

Bottom Line: My 10-year old nephew put his hard-earned allowance against it after weighing many options (endlessly), and is happy with the choice and it's still providing endless playing power.

This toy is just awesome! This is a toy for everyone, all ages. Adult, child, whatever! This is a must have for anyone. The only problem is, the flame in the back of Kranxx's ship keeps falling off. It took me about 5-10 hours to build it. It is a pure master peace of Lego.

My son is a few month away from being nine. He purchased this with his own money so it was a big deal with lots of Lego looking. He had fun building it but said that during the building process, pressing down on the Legos often led to part of the assembly snapping off, causing many re-builds. In the words of the Wicked Witch of the West "These things have to be handled delicately." Once finished, my son really likes to play and pretend with his Lego toys. They look very realistic and are just begging to be taken off display and actually put to use. The side doors on the helicopter break off almost every time he opens them, but he patiently reconstructs it again and again. The little raft is solid. The winch works great. Overall it was a good buy...it wasn't my money. I really enjoy my dwarven mine set. The different mine carts and carriers are awesome, and there are lots of moving and interactive parts like the mine carts, the ore shaft, the catapult, the doors, and the hoisting mill. The dwarf and troll minifigs are really cool, my only complaint might be that more shields for both the dwarves and the trolls would have been nice. Another fine looking plane from Lego. Great design. Easy build but looks awesome. Comes with 4 mini-figures, a nice gas truck and a hidden compartment between the front and rear cockpits. Highly recommended for any Indiana Jones lego collector.

Note:Small point-on the left and right of the wings are these hinges that hold the flaps. Could use another piece to secure tighter plus the 'ark' is not included. Also, the front landing gear can come off while playing. No biggie but make sure to secure it tight.
There's also a crate with some gems but not the ark itself. Would've been nice to have had a detailed ark and or closed box that closer to the movie one. But you can substitute the ark from another Indiana Jones set here.

The Lego Town Plan is the coolest Lego set I've seen in years. This set is what helped me decide to collect Lego's again, after being a huge Lego Maniac back in the 1980's. I can't help but think about how much fun I would have had with this set as a kid.

What you get is well worth the money spent. We're not talking huge buildings here, but you really can't go wrong, and would be a great start (or addition) to any Lego Town. The retro design is so cool, it looks like they come right out of the 50's!

I'd say out of the three buildings, the gas station is the one with the most play value. The detachable gas pump island allows you to place the pumps anywhere, although it would have been cool to have them be more stationary so they aren't in the middle of the road...etc. The garage is cool, comes with a sliding garage door and a bunch of tools, as well as the car wash (only smaller cars will fit in the garage and car wash). The snack shop comes with food in a display case and cash register.

The movie theater also has incredible detail, from the "Cinema" sign and marquee out front, to the soda and popcorn stand on the inside. Plenty of room and comfy seats for at least 5-6 minifigs to catch the western playing on the big screen. I maybe would have designed the ticket booth out front a bit different, but that's neither here nor there.

The town hall has a cool outer facade, and the fountain is cool as well. I purchased a seperate green Lego base plate and put the town hall on one end of the plate, with the fountain in the middle, like a park. The interior of the town hall leaves something to be desired, but I think the outer facade is the best feature. The flowers do pop off quite easily, but it's no big deal.

The blue roadster that comes with the set is very cool as well. It's a tight fit for minifigs, but a very cool car indeed.

All told, a very cool set. If you aren't a fan of stickers, well, it comes with quite a few stickers. There are no pre-labeled pieces, so if you look at the set, anything with lettering you have to apply. But again, no big deal. Just time consuming if you're a perfectionist.

Again, worth the money. Your town just isn't complete without it!

Cheap Crystal Sweeper

I am 6 years old and I think the Crystal Sweeper is the worst toy ever. (Mom is typing this and she would have to say it's not the WORST toy ever; he's just really disappointed. The whole reason he wanted it was because it would sweep crystals into the bucket -- hence the name.) The crystals don't sweep into the bucket. The rock monsters don't sweep into the bucket. (They really don't.) The things I like about it are the laptop, the minifigures, and all the machinery. Oh, and I like the banana.
