My son loves this so much that he broke it in about 3 months.

It's pretty sturdy toy, don't get me wrong. Had my first kid and saw this on sale for $16 from Amazon and had a great review. I attached this in pretty much everything my son had: Bassinet, car seat, stroller, bouncer, table, desk, etc etc. Pretty much any surface that is less than about 1 1/2 to 2 inch thick you can attach this. It's got joints so you can twist it to go on lots of different things.

My son didn't care much for his bouncer attachment so I put this arch instead of the bouncer toy and presto. (which is the reason this broke). Well it's not broken. Just one of the grip made of rubber/plastic got partially ripped off due to my son pulling on the various toys especially the pinwheel (pull on a ball with a bell inside like a lawnmower and it turns the pinwheel)

Anyways due to not being attached correctly and/or due to my son being hyper and strong, pulling it like crazy, the rubber part got ripped a bit but it still attaches and he is still playing with it after 9 months.

It was so cute watching him trying figure out cause and effect with the ball and the pin wheel rotating (around 2-3month). I'd hand him the ball and help him pull which caused the pin wheel to turn. He'd look at the ball then the pin wheel and the ball again trying to figure it out. And he eventually did after awhile. The the rubber part ripped and he grew out of the bouncer and he got millions of other toys so I forgot about it. few weeks ago I saw my son playing with his bouncer so i attached the arch. and he has forgotten about the ball and the pinwheel. So it took him awhile to realize that pull the ball = wheel go around.

There are many positives about this kit: Carrying case is great to put the contents back into place and has a carrying handle. Everything fits easily and velcros shut. The paper colors are vibrant. The shapes are nicely perforated and do not rip as you are taking them out. The paper is a nice weight--almost as thick as cardstock, I believe. The cards are large: 5.5" x 8.5" - a nice size for small hands.

However, I have pretty paper and envelopes. What I really wanted were a good variety of shapes for my 6-year-old daughter who enjoys making cards. Instead, the set included the following popouts shapes:

7 sheets of paper in these colors: orange, blue, light green, purple, white, yellow, and pink. Each paper contained the following shapes of varying sizes:

My one year old son loves the mallet that comes with this toy. He chews on it, bangs with it, and carries it with him while crawling. He finally got the hang of hitting the balls so they drop down and chases the balls all over our wood floor. The only drawback (which is being nit-picky) is that sometimes when the balls drop they get stuck in the box. They need to insert two angled slats of wood in the interior of the box so that the balls don't get stuck. It's only a problem because when the balls don't come out, my son gets frustrated and ends up tossing the box on it's side or upside down and then he gets more frustrated because he can't play with it at that point. I think this is a very good product for kids in the mode of learning how to read, meaning kids that are ready to read or are old enough to be reading and having a little trouble. It is meant to help parents help their children learn to read, not teach the children to read in itself. No one program is going to teach most children how to read, it is going to be a combination of readiness, desire, adult help, resources such as Hooked on Phonics, Leap Frog, Sesame Street, PBS, etc. As a level headed educator and parent I find it insane that we are using what ever we can to teach babies how to read. At 2 and 3 years old childrens eye/brain coordination is not very developed. I believe it is fine for kids to learn to read by just picking it up on their own but must we continue to push reading onto babies. Babies like to be read to and when they want to learn to read they will show you they are wanting to do so.

For some of the Leap Frog products I have seen people complain about the graphics. Come on, these things are geard toward little children who could care less about graphics. One person made a comment about another Leap Frog product that beyond a 19 inch TV the graphics are all over the place. Duh, put it on a smaller TV. Why do you have your kid sittiing infront of a really large high tech tv anyway? You will never get them away from it. It's like going from a Benz to a Sentra. Put yourself in a Benz, you may never want to drive your Sentra again.

I would recogmend this program to anyone as part of your program but not the one and only thing to have. I haven't seen anything out there that meets all needs for all children. I don't feel even Hooked on Phonics could be your stand alone program.

I like this toy a lot but I was surprised when my son pushed the "z" and the pronunciation was "zed". Apparently, "zed" is used in Great Britain, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and most other places that speak English. However, I don't think that a lot of people in the U.S. realize this. We have many LeapFrog toys and this is the first that doesn't use "zee". This is definitely a worthwhile toy but we do have a child with a learning disability and I don't want him to get confused by the discrepancy.

I ordered both the 7 inch deluxe Night fury as well as the smaller toy (5 inch) and I have to be honest the deluxe toy is well worth the price increase in size. It is detailed very well, and the fact that the wings move and the mouth opens when you squeeze the legs is a nice bonus so it is not a static toy.

The movie was excellent and kids of course want the toys from their favorite movies, we could not find the Night Fury in any of our local stores and so we turned to Amazon. I was of course thrilled to find it and be able to make my daughter happy.

Sure I paid a little more than at a store, but I accepted this as part of the deal, the stores were sold out (likely because people bought them all to resell... well at least in part)

Either way glad I bought it, great toy. My only complaint is the wings do not always stay on and there is no articulation in the neck.
